There are different customs and festivals held in Britain and the United States regarding the day. As a public holiday in most of the Christian countries, people go to the Church for prayer offerings, meals are made, and poor people are fed as part of the celebrations along with a period of silence during the morning hours in the memory of Jesus. Christians pay tribute to the savior for atonement of their sins hereafter.

What Happened on Good Friday?

According to Christian beliefs and Bible (Muslims deny the facts of Jesus’s death and believe him alive and in heavens), Jesus was declared blasphemous, beaten and publicly scourged before moving to the hill. The Golgotha hill was chosen for crucifixion where he was tied (as per bible) and nailed for crucifixion (as per Roman laws) with a crown of thorns. After the death (according to Christians) Jesus was placed in a Tomb (now called Tomb of Jesus) on the Third Day that is celebrated as Easter Sunday.
